Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train
The water near the shore was murky, but fortunately, the spot where Ming Chu jumped in wasn't far from where the person had been thrown. She reached out and grabbed a soft body in the water.
But it was too strange.
When a person is thrown into the water, they should instinctively struggle due to the discomfort of choking, but the person she grabbed didn't make a sound.
Was she not witnessing a murder, but rather the disposal of a corpse?
Shocked, Ming Chu surfaced from the water, intending to drag the person to shore.
As it turned out, she made it up, but she couldn't drag the person with her.
Squinting, Ming Chu said in disbelief, "Where did you come from?"
Indeed, what she saw were the familiar tentacles.
The same octopus tentacles she had seen when she first entered this world, and even observed during the day.
She didn't know if it was the same octopus, but that didn't matter. The person was in her hands now; dead or alive, they were hers. She couldn't let a fish snatch them away, could she?
Ming Chu didn't let go, and the octopus tentacles certainly didn't know the meaning of being gentle.
The person was being pulled like a piece of taffy.
Ming Chu had been holding the shoulders of the person—or corpse—she had rescued. She adjusted her posture, grabbed the two hands of the motionless figure with one hand, and pulled a long blade out with her free right hand.
"...Couldn't you just let me be dragged into the sea and die? Dying by being pulled in two seems even more miserable."
"You're not dead?" Ming Chu blurted out.
The person being pulled: "..."
She really wanted to ask, are you sick?
But clearly, Ming Chu wasn't sick at all. She didn't bother responding to the person who wanted to die. With a forceful pull, she swung the person and the tentacles up, and in the next second, the blade flashed.
The lower half of the rescued person fell to the ground, with a piece of octopus tentacle still wrapped around their ankle.
With nothing dragging them anymore, Ming Chu hoisted the person up and moved away from the shoreline.
Sure enough, just as she ran, the tentacle slammed down where they had been.
