Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train
After a hearty meal, Ming Chu finally felt her stomach come back to life.
Having been living on porridge and compressed biscuits, with the occasional instant noodles, Ming Chu felt her palate had become incredibly dull. She had worked so hard to hoard all those ready-to-eat meals, and in this world, she had almost been unable to use them.
After eating, Ming Chu didn't forget to spray a bit of air purifier and insect repellent. The resulting scent was complex, but once the aroma of the food was masked, she opened the window to let the air circulate.
She lived on the 13th floor. The buildings in the shelter area were not very tall, so the view from the 13th floor allowed her to see quite far.
The shelter was cordoned off, and there weren't many people inside right now. The few she occasionally saw were always in a hurry. Aside from being a bit desolate, the shelter seemed completely isolated from the dangers outside.
She wondered how long this quiet would last once the survivors started pouring in.
Ming Chu only indulged in such thoughts for a brief moment. Facing the dusk, she shut the window tight and began to prepare for sleep.
Ever since she entered this world, she hadn't had a single good night's sleep.
Back at the school, she, the once-ordinary college student, had become the most reliable one. Even when others were on night watch, she was always on high alert.
That was why she had been a light sleeper back then, waking up at the slightest sound.
It was different now. She was inside the shelter; if this place wasn't safe, then there was no safe place left in this apocalypse.
The crisis of an apocalypse should escalate gradually, so Ming Chu decided to take this chance to get some good sleep before moving on to other tasks.
She had thought she would struggle to fall asleep in bed and might need to force herself, but less than a minute after lying down, Ming Chu's breathing evened out.
As night fell, Liu Yun was still working overtime in the laboratory, searching for inspiration. She would occasionally get into an argument with her colleagues, but halfway through, she would have an idea, rush to record it, and then continue the debate.
It wasn't until midnight that Liu Yun, lacking any critical experimental procedures, was forced to take a break.
However, Liu Yun insisted on not leaving Liu Xu. In the end, she pushed a folding cot outside the glass room where Liu Xu was kept and slept while watching over her.
