Chapter 18: Reaching the 88th Floor

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

The people coming to meet them had already reached the roof of Galaxy Tower, leaving them with only four hours until two o'clock. They needed to figure out a way to break through the horde of zombies, enter Galaxy Tower, and climb all the way to the top floor.

"Should we drive straight through?" Xu Ruo estimated. "If we can find a large truck, something sturdy enough, we should be able to plow right over them."

"No way, what if we get stuck in the middle?" Brother Wang flatly rejected the idea.

If they got stuck in the middle, he and Xu Ruo would still have a chance to escape, but bringing Lin Meng and Ming Chu out unscathed would be utterly impossible.

"Then do you have enough bullets? If we have enough ammunition, we could spend an hour or two clearing out the zombies," Xu Ruo suggested, changing tack.

Brother Wang: "...What do you think?"

Xu Ruo remained calm. "Then our only option is to lure the zombies away."

The question was: who would lure them away, and how?

Using an electric scooter to lure the zombies away was feasible; either Xu Ruo or Brother Wang was bold enough to pull it off. The real puzzle was how to make sure the trailing zombies stayed attracted.

Or should both of them go out?

"What if the sound is big enough? Can we use grenades to draw them away?" Ming Chu suddenly asked.

"Grenades make plenty of noise, but we didn't bring many to begin with. Besides, making a racket here will just draw in more zombies from elsewhere," Brother Wang shook his head.

Ming Chu understood. "So as long as we have enough grenades, we can actually pull this off."

"I only brought three grenades, and you only took five. If we want to execute your plan, we need at least fifteen."

They were still short by seven.

Ming Chu: "Seven? I have them."

Brother Wang: "???"

"How many did you actually take?"

Ming Chu wore an innocent look.

Aside from the five she displayed openly, she had simply taken forty-two in secret.
