Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train
Nothing happened.
The 88th floor seemed completely devoid of danger.
However, neither Xu Ruo nor Brother Wang made a sound or stepped out. Brother Wang simply tossed a loaf of bread into the elevator entrance, wedging it in the door to keep it from closing.
"Is that you, Miss Lin?"
Finally, someone spoke from the outside.
Brother Wang signaled to Xu Ruo and called out loudly, "It's us, the young lady is here!"
"Is that you, Brother Wang? Thank goodness, you and the young lady are safe!" A sturdy man emerged from outside the elevator.
He was also carrying a rifle, but he kept the muzzle pointed at the ground to show his sincerity.
"Brother Wang, come on out. We have to walk from the 88th floor to the roof. Don't worry, we've already cleared the 88th floor and blocked off the emergency stairwell."
As he spoke, he stopped five meters away from the elevator. "But Brother Wang, could you step out for a moment? I've seen your photo, I need to verify your identity."
Xu Ruo signaled the number five to Brother Wang, indicating there were five people outside.
Brother Wang nodded and walked straight out.
As if by accident, he kicked the loaf of bread out of the elevator doorway as he went.
Xu Ruo kept her hand pressed on the elevator's open-door button, ready to release it and flee at any moment.
Fortunately, the people outside were not playing any tricks.
They had indeed seen Brother Wang's photo, and some even recognized him. Upon seeing him, the four hidden men stepped out, all looking relieved. "You're here? That's fantastic! We were worried because it's too difficult to go down and get you; the ground floor is completely surrounded. Now that you've made it up safely, we can all head back together."
"By the way, Brother Wang, were you the ones who lured the zombies away downstairs?"
The burly men spoke over one another, mostly expressing admiration.
They were impressed that Brother Wang could complete the mission perfectly while escorting a pregnant woman during such a zombie-infested time.
"Let's head up first. How many helicopters are there?"
