Zhong Shuang was taking a shower in the bathroom. It took her five minutes just to take off her clothes, another five to fill the tub, and in the end, she only spent five minutes actually washing.
But that was enough.
She had been shivering from the rain, and her body temperature had dropped. After a bowl of ginger soup and a bucket of hot water, her body warmed up. By the time Ming Chu came back in, there was a bit of color returning to Zhong Shuang's pale face.
And when Ming Chu entered, how should one describe Zhong Shuang's expression?
It wasn't embarrassment or indifference; instead, it carried a hint of dark, playful anticipation?
Having deciphered the meaning behind that look, Ming Chu's expression turned strange for a moment, but then she remembered how Zhong Shuang had been suicidal and devoid of the will to live, and her gaze softened back to normal.
Forget it.
Even if Zhong Shuang had some hidden agenda, as long as she didn't feel like she was in danger, it meant her little schemes weren't malicious.
As long as she wasn't trying to die anymore, she could have all the little schemes she wanted.
With that thought, Ming Chu went to the side of the tub and lifted Zhong Shuang out.
Zhong Shuang didn't look at herself at all; she kept her eyes fixed on Ming Chu.
Seeing that Ming Chu had no reaction, she couldn't help but ask, "Don't you see them?"
As she spoke, she glanced down at her own legs.
Ming Chu followed her gaze and saw a pair of withered, deformed legs.
"Isn't this normal?"
For a split second, Zhong Shuang felt like Ming Chu was the abnormal one.
It had been nearly two years since her car accident. In those two years, whether due to her own choices or external circumstances, she had barely undergone any rehabilitation. Her numb legs hadn't been massaged or cared for, and they had withered and deformed to a point that even she found disgusting and horrifying.
Wearing her bathrobe, her legs were exposed right in front of Ming Chu.
She had done it with a bit of dark humor, even intentionally not covering her legs.
