Chapter 373: One-Inch Card

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

The two items, one shaped like a tortoise shell and the other like a wristwatch, posed an immediate threat. Ming Chu sensed the danger at once and, without hesitation, swung her suitcase at them. Though the team leader was surprised that her 'item' could be used again so soon after its previous deployment—the cooldown time was surprisingly short—he instinctively raised the tortoise shell to block the suitcase.

They only stumbled back two or three steps; the shell cracked, but it did not shatter.

"How many times can you use that?" the team leader snarled. He wanted Ming Chu dead at all costs. If she died, he would regain his face and avenge his teammate. As for the remaining survivor, he could just use some kind of slave contract on her.

Or perhaps he would just let her die too.

And what about high-level items?

Killing Ming Chu was an S-rank mission, and S-rank missions always yielded at least one highly useful high-level item. Consuming two now wouldn't be a loss, and completing an S-rank mission would bring hidden benefits.

Full of confidence, he prepared to use the wristwatch item.

But Ming Chu was faster. She smiled at him, raised a hand, and a sky full of water droplets appeared before she instantly retreated.

The water rained down, but unfortunately for him, his high-level item had a small bug: the tortoise shell could block 99% of attacks, which meant 1% was always getting through.

Thus, 1% of the water leaked inside.

One percent didn't seem like much—it barely looked like enough to soak them like drowned rats—but what if that water was boiling?

"Aaaaaah!"

Protected by the shell, the two men screamed like scalded chickens. The water that hadn't entered wasn't wasted either; Aloshi controlled it, lifting it up and letting it fall again.

Yes, 1% managed to leak in every single time.

By the third time, the two men inside finally realized what was happening and scrambled to dodge as they discarded the shell.

But...

Didn't that just give Aloshi an opening?

He wasn't a melee fighter; he was a master of ranged control. Before, only 1% of the boiling water had been getting in, but now 100% of it was chasing them down!
