Chapter 313: Human, What Is It You Seek?

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

Three minutes later.

Ming Chu climbed down from the tree. The wolf king lay on its side, while a circle of wolves—those uninjured or only lightly wounded—sat around Ming Chu and their leader, watching her intently.

Fortunately, the wolf cub was still by Ming Chu's side. Whenever it noticed a wolf acting aggressively toward her, it would let out a fierce, milky growl and rush over to nip at them.

Well, the damage was negligible, but the message was clear.

However, the pack valued their leader deeply, especially now that they possessed intelligence. They cherished the wolf king who had always protected them and were desperate to keep it safe.

So, even with the cub there, the surrounding wolves couldn't fully let their guard down around Ming Chu.

But Ming Chu didn't have the bandwidth to worry about the wolves' inner thoughts. She looked at the wolf king's wound and was completely shocked.

From a distance, it had just looked like a bloody mess, as if a hole had been blown into it. But after getting close and brushing aside the matted fur to examine it, Ming Chu realized just how deep the wound really was.

The bone itself had been shattered by the blast!

That meant every step the wolf king took, it was supporting its own weight with a fractured bone!

Yet, before the cub had cried out, the wolf king hadn't let out a single whimper of pain, not even when it thought Ming Chu was an enemy; it hadn't shown a shred of weakness or frailty.

Ming Chu actually felt a sense of admiration for the wolf.

"It's a good thing it's just a crack and not a complete fracture; I don't know how to set bones," Ming Chu muttered. "I'm going to give you a shot of anesthetic, but I don't have much, so it'll probably still hurt. Bear with it; the wound needs to be cleaned thoroughly to heal properly."

The wolf king glanced at her with its deep blue eyes. "Awoo."

Talkative human.

Ming Chu: "..."

I'm trying to help you, and you're calling me talkative?

Ming Chu rolled her eyes, but when she began cleaning the wound, she kept her hands as steady, quick, and gentle as possible.

However, the medical alcohol stung when it touched the wound, and the wolf king let out a muffled grunt. The surrounding pack stood up in alarm, but Ming Chu just said, "I told you it would hurt. Just bear with it, it'll be over soon. I'm trying to be as fast as I can."

As she spoke, she accelerated her pace.

Fortunately, the wolf king was indeed stoic. Once the wound was cleaned and the surrounding fur trimmed, Ming Chu applied the medicine and bandaged it.

Don't think Ming Chu didn't value it; aside from the medical alcohol, the medicine and gauze she used were the best in her possession, especially the gauze, which was a piece Yan Yan had given her.
