Chapter 213: The Person in the Jar

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

Silence filled the underground laboratory that night.

Li Xian didn't know whether to ask Ming Chu why she had suddenly exposed herself, be happy that Ming Chu believed her, or worry about her own fate.

In the end, she only managed to squeeze out: “I actually thought you were a ‘lunatic’ from our own world.”

“Is there a difference?” Ming Chu countered.

Li Xian’s expression changed. She muttered, “Of course there is a difference. Robots cannot harm people from this world, but intruders are never counted among them. This base ostensibly only has 11 floors, but you can go further down, from -12 to -15. If you see it, you might hate me.”

Ming Chu didn't take the bait.

She would go see the lower levels if she could, but not now.

Things had to be done one by one.

Ming Chu brought up another matter: “I cannot let you go, but I don’t want to kill you either. You might have to suffer a bit and stay in these holding cells for a while.”

Li Xian looked at her with complex eyes but said, “Thank you.”

Ming Chu sent Li Xian into a room, and then she said to Ming Chu, “There is something on my left wrist; you should take it.”

“What is it? It’s not your chip, is it?” Ming Chu didn't want any unnecessary, tragic incidents to occur.

“It’s not my memory chip. The chip that sustains my life is in my brain. This chip is a gift I want to give you.” Li Xian looked up at Ming Chu. Her lips moved, and she sounded weak, but also guilty. “Some robots, just like me, actually don’t want to be enemies with humans. If you win, can you spare a few robots?”

“Or, you can take them away. You have a way, right?”
