Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train
Ming Chu had been told a few people were coming, but it wasn't until she saw them that she realized she should have added a zero to that estimate.
A total of 80 people stood neatly before Ming Chu. They were all tall with long legs, a mix of men and women standing together.
Their current formation was based on combat ability; those who could win were in the front, and the most formidable were in the center.
"Xiao Chu, time is tight, so we've only selected a few dozen people for now. You take a look first. If there's no one you like, it doesn't matter; we can swap them out later."
Director Jin spoke as if he were picking oranges, as if a whole crate of them were there for Ming Chu to choose from.
How could Ming Chu really choose like that?
She thought for a moment and said, "I'd like people with better temperaments who can listen to my instructions. Could you help me pick, Uncle Jin?"
"You really want me to pick?" Director Jin was surprised.
Ming Chu gave a firm answer: "Yes. Not just this time, but I'd like to ask for your help in picking in the future as well."
Director Jin couldn't help but stare at Ming Chu, only to see her looking open and completely trusting of him.
Even a shrewd man like Director Jin couldn't help but feel pleased by Ming Chu's trust.
He joked, "Do you know what it means to ask me to help you pick from now on?"
"I do. I trust your judgment, Uncle Jin. And even if we don't get along later, I can always change people," Ming Chu added. "Actually, I trust the character of anyone who was selected and sent to me. They are the first batch of people to grasp this power; I'm just worried about clashing temperaments and having trouble cooperating later."
Director Jin naturally understood that Ming Chu was being subtle; she just didn't want to pick people who were too self-centered to work with her.
As it happened, Director Jin didn't want those self-centered types to give this precious talent a hard time either.
