Chapter 444: The Fleet

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

Things were truly not looking good for the fleet.

The initial impact of the water spout was a disaster, and the subsequent riots of mutated marine creatures following the spout were yet another layer of catastrophe.

Could the danger really be limited to the aquatic creatures swept up and tossed onto the shore by the spout? There were far more mutated creatures still in the water, creatures that hadn't been swept up but had been driven into a frenzy by the sudden natural disaster.

On the fleet, some were injured by the aftermath of the water spout, while others fell overboard before they could be rescued. Consequently, the scent of human blood, far more potent than that of fish, began to spread through the waves.

The fleet was surrounded by numerous mutated creatures. Even though they had tried their best to choose tall, large, and sturdy ships, some hulls were still being gouged with holes or cracks, and some fish were even leaping onto the decks to hunt people.

Shrimp, crabs, and certain sea turtles were particularly troublesome; they had legs, allowing them to scuttle about quickly even after jumping onto the ships.

There were tens of thousands of people on the fleet, but the official personnel, even including volunteers, numbered only a few thousand. These people were enough to manage the survivors, but protecting everyone from the dense swarm of mutated marine life was a difficult task.

In just half an hour, at least a dozen people had been dragged into the water, and at least a hundred more had been accidentally bitten.

“Hold the line! Don't be stingy with the ammunition! We’ve already requested weapons support!”

The officers roared their orders.

Gunfire and explosions erupted, but they lacked effectiveness against marine life. Even bombs lost their power once submerged, and the soldiers were afraid to throw them too close, leaving them feeling constrained and incredibly frustrated.

This was the scene Ming Chu and Xiao Wu encountered upon their arrival.

A teenager in his early teens had fallen in. Ming Chu nudged Xiao Wu, “Be careful yourself. Don’t lose any limbs; other injuries are easier to treat.”

With that, she dove into the water.

There were too many people here, and too much blood. The mutated creatures beneath the surface were packed tight. As soon as Ming Chu jumped in, she slashed two of them.
