Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train
Beside the RV, Ming Chu held the heavy, golden fruit. It was as large as a honeydew melon and perfectly round, requiring both her hands to support it.
Its skin looked like a mango's but was incredibly hard; Ming Chu tried to press into it with some force, but it didn't even dent.
Amu poked her little head out, looking at the Divine Fruit with curiosity.
Chang Zhou also circled the fruit several times, sniffing, touching, and even tapping it. Finally, he said, "The outer layer seems like a coconut shell. The edible part must be inside."
"Yes, the shell is there to protect the Divine Fruit. Only the inside is edible," Awuh said.
Chang Zhou asked curiously, "Do you know how to open it? I can't find any seams, and I have no idea how to crack it."
"I do," Awuh nodded instinctively, but her expression suddenly stiffened.
As if she hadn't noticed the stiffness, Ming Chu weighed the fruit and asked, "Are there any side effects to eating it?"
"There are. Most likely, you'll have a high fever for one to three days, and in rare cases, a low fever lasting from a week to half a month," Awuh gritted her teeth and blurted it out.
"Got it," Ming Chu replied. "Do you guys still want to look at it? If not, I'm putting it away. I'm not eating something with side effects for now."
No one had any objections; it was a gift for Ming Chu, after all.
Besides, the one who gave it was...
Whenever Chang Zhou thought of the scene he had witnessed through the window, he couldn't help but shiver. "Ming Chu, are you really not afraid?"
"Afraid of what? It even gave me the Divine Fruit; it's a good baby," Ming Chu said, then turned to Chang Zhou. "Since it's still early, let's make some food for it. Tell me what ingredients you need; I'm going to go check on it later."
"Huh?" Chang Zhou jumped. "You're going to go see it yourself?"
"Why not?" Ming Chu countered. "The python gave me such a precious gift; I should at least go check its wounds, right?"
