Chapter 130: The Surface and Subsurface Worlds

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

The sky had been torn apart.

Those six words left Ming Chu completely stunned.

She blinked, took a moment to process this, and then asked, "Isn't there just cloud cover and the atmosphere above the sky?"

"You're young, have you ever heard of the surface and subsurface worlds?"

Director Jin asked Ming Chu a question in return.

The first thing that came to Ming Chu's mind was a well-known horror movie, *A Quiet Place*.

That film was so famous that even people who didn't watch horror movies had heard a thing or two about it, and the monster nurses in it were even memed from every angle.

Seeing Ming Chu nod, Director Jin breathed a sigh of relief: "The surface and subsurface worlds are a hypothesis from the researchers. They say that what the Geocentric Pterosaurs tore through wasn't actually the sky, but the barrier between two worlds. That's why they appeared so abruptly; they were never native creatures of this world to begin with."

Ming Chu felt a dull ache in her teeth.

She asked without much hope: "Is there any way for us to stop it?"

"With our current level of science, unfortunately, no. We can't even precisely detect where the barrier is weak." Director Jin let out a long sigh, but then his tone shifted. "Fortunately, we have discovered some of their weaknesses. For instance, they are nocturnal creatures, so we are safe during the day."

This was indeed good news; at the very least, Ming Chu could rest easy during the daylight hours.

What Director Jin didn't tell Ming Chu was that, apart from their city, the damage to other cities had been quite severe.

The giant Geocentric Pterosaur that appeared yesterday was not an exception for this city; on average, one giant Geocentric Pterosaur appeared for every five cities. Even though they had been prepared, the dozens of scattered smaller ones, combined with that one large one, still caused significant casualties in many cities.
