Chapter 79: The Second Explosion

Apocalypse Invasion: Survival on the Infinite Train

The rescue team arrived with eleven people, but only six were officially assigned to retrieve Liu Yun, forming a single squad.

The reason they joined forces with the larger rescue team was simple: they had confidence in their own equipment.

The protective suits the rescue squad carried were developed in an emergency. They were completely seamless from the boots to the hood, and each suit included three oxygen tanks, each lasting twenty minutes during strenuous activity, providing at least an hour of safety.

Unlike the suits Ming Chu and the others were wearing, these offered protection equivalent to half that of a bulletproof vest.

The parasites outside really couldn't pose much of a threat to them.

As it happened, the leader of the rescue team and the captain of the rescue squad were former comrades-in-arms, and since they were heading to the same destination, they didn't mind traveling together.

They had brought five of these suits: three for Liu Yun, Ming Chu, and Liu Xu, with two spares.

However, Ming Chu didn't let them in immediately. She looked at the five people in different gear behind the captain and asked, "Are there only five suits? Is there any way to get more?"

"What do you think these suits are? Do you think they're easy to come by? If it weren't for Teacher Liu, we wouldn't have even accounted for two extra people." The shortest member of the squad, who couldn't have been over 1.7 meters tall, spoke with extreme impatience.

Ming Chu didn't mind. She said, "Leave the suits, but you can't come in for now."

"No way. We need to see Teacher Liu in person and hand the suits to her ourselves." The member's tone was aggressive. "By the way, where is Teacher Liu? She's not here? You didn't do anything to her, did you?"

Ming Chu felt that a squad sent to pick someone up should at least have some common sense.

If it weren't for the fact that there were too many people in the laboratory building, and that she was just an ordinary college student before this, she wouldn't have been confident in protecting Liu Yun and Liu Xu; she wouldn't have bothered going with these people at all.

"Flying Mouse!"

The man who must have been the captain barked a reprimand. Flying Mouse was still unhappy: "I was just stating the facts..."

"Shut up!" The captain had more sense than Flying Mouse. He nodded at Ming Chu. "I apologize for my teammate. Your caution is justified. Not knowing our situation, keeping us outside is indeed the best decision. The suits are a universal size. I can give you three first; we can talk once you've put them on."
